EAST PALENSTINE, Ohio — An 8-year-old Ohio boy just wanted to get a cheeseburger for his little sister.
The child managed to drive his father's van successfully to a local McDonald's, East Palenstine Ohio police officer Jacob Koehler told WFMJ 21 News.
Both parents had fallen asleep Sunday evening when the children decided to go get something to eat, Koehler said. The 8-year-old boy looked up some YouTube videos on how to drive and then took their father's van through four intersections and over some railroad tracks to a McDonald's about a mile away, according to Fox 8 News.
Witnesses told police that the child stayed under the speed limit and obeyed all traffic laws, Koehler said.
A family friend recognized the children at the restaurant and called the police, who notified the children's grandparents. They were able to eat a cheeseburger before police arrived.
No charges are being filed at this time, Koehler said.
