Paizo Publishing, Inc. has pulled down the barriers for gamers interested in jumping into one of the most popular roleplaying games on the market. New pocket editions for the "Pathfinder RPG Core Rules and Bestiary" cost half as much and are extremely portable.
It's important to note that the pocket editions of the "Core Rulebook and Bestiary" contain the same number of pages, the same full-color fantasy art and all of the same content page per page as the bigger hardcovers. The pocket version is a goblin-sized 6.5" x 8.4" compared to the original giant-size of 8.6 x 11 inches.
The pocket versions also contain smaller type and images, a lighter paper stock, and of course a lower price point. The MSRP for the pocket-sized Core Rulebook is $24.99 compared to the hardcover original at $49.99. The pocket-sized Bestiary costs even less at $19.99 compared to the hardcover cost at $39.99. Basically the new pocket versions are half off the hardcover prices.
"Early response to the paperback Pocket Editions of the 'Core Rulebook and Bestiary' has been absolutely phenomenal," says Paizo publisher Erik Mona. "From the lighter weight being popular with convention and game-store players to the overwhelming surprise at the legibility of the text, Pathfinder Pocket Editions are a great idea that has people clamoring for a similar treatment for other Pathfinder hardcovers. I wish we'd thought of it years ago!"
For those new to roleplaying, the Pathfinder RPG allows players to take on the role of brave adventurers fighting evil in a fantasy world filled with magic, warriors, weapons, treasure and monsters. An adventure can be a one-off outing played in a single night to a multi-event campaign adventure path that takes years to complete.
