AUSTRALIA — Remember summer?
I know, it's hard when you're constantly surrounded by snow and the temperature rarely rises above freezing. But if you try really hard, you might be able to transport yourself back for just a moment to those hot days of popsicles, swimsuits and waterslides.
If you're still having trouble remembering those good ol' summer days, watch this video. Not only is it extremely cool, but it will make you excited that we are just a tiny bit closer to summer now that it's officially February.
Australia Day, the official national day of Australia, is celebrated each year on Jan. 26. Because those lucky Australians are experiencing summer right now, that means their celebrations involve a lot of barbecues, fireworks and hanging out at the park. For one group of genius Aussies, celebrating this year meant creating a giant spinning waterslide ride.
Watching the video immediately took me back to my childhood days when my siblings and I put a flat piece of plastic down in our backyard, covered it in soap and water and called it a waterslide. Disclaimer to anyone who wants to try this at home: don't use nails to hold the plastic down. I learned that lesson pretty quick and had a bloody knee to prove it.
That experience left me with a slight aversion to waterslides, but this video reminded me of how fun they can be. I don't know about you, but after watching it, I want to spend the rest of the day brainstorming all the cool, fun things I'll do once the temperature hits 70 degrees.
