TV LAND — There is a lot of television out there. How could you possibly sort through all of the network, cable and streaming options when there is so much incredible scripted content to watch?
Good news. You don't have to! Here are our picks for a wide range of TV choices to fill your May. This list includes shows to start watching from the beginning, as well as new seasons that are available for shows you might already be watching.
Hirsch will take over the role of Jim, previously voiced by the late Anton Yelchin. A fun romp through magic and good fighting evil, "Trollhunters" serves as an entry point to a larger series of animated shows. The next show, "Tales of Arcadia," airs later in the year.
Streaming near the end of the month, the 13th season of this show about brothers who hunt things that go bump in the night features a mashup too good to pass on.
Even if you quit watching "Supernatural" five years ago, do yourself a favor and check out the Scooby-Doo crossover episode, where Sam and Dean find themselves in an animated alternate reality. And — jinkies! — do they ever have a mystery on their hands. Also, Dean tries to woo Daphne and it's really funny.
Season 2 will hit Netflix in May, but this is a perfect time to get in on the delightfully ridiculous, unnecessarily gritty Archie reboot.
The characters may have the same names as the comics and share some of the same relationships or backstories, but this is certainly not the Archie you'd find at the supermarket checkout. Also featuring Josie and the Pussycats, the Betty and Veronica rivalry you know and love, and other familiar friends, it's a murder mystery wrapped up in a teen soap opera. And it loves quippy one-liners.
Yes, it's a reboot, but "Lost in Space" has those big Netflix bucks behind it and that definitely shows.
Despite its flashiness, though, it's a story about a family at its core. The dynamic between all of the siblings and their robot friend is quite heartwarming. Sure, there are some family squabbles, but the Robinsons have a lot more to worry about. Parker Posey also stars, as a gender-swapped Dr. Smith, and loves to keep you guessing about her loyalties.
